    Peptide Options

    BPC-157 [4]

BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide based on a protein found in human gastric juice. It’s one of the most talked-about recovery peptides out there. [4]

Most of what we know about BPC-157 comes from animal and lab studies, where it has been studied for its role in tissue repair, blood vessel formation, and gut lining support. Human research is still limited, so we treat it as an option to discuss carefully, not a sure thing. [4]

    Potential benefits being studied [4]

    • Support for soft tissue recovery (tendons, ligaments, muscle)
    • Support for gut lining health
    • A possible role in the body’s natural repair and inflammation response

How it may fit into a plan [4]

    • Part of a recovery plan after a sports or overuse injury
    • Support alongside physical therapy or a structured rehab program
    • Gut health support as part of a broader wellness plan

    GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) [5]

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding peptide found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Levels drop as we age. [5]

It’s best known in skin care, and most of the research is on topical use. Topical GHK-Cu has been studied for its role in collagen production, skin firmness, and wound healing, and it shows up in a lot of medical-grade skincare for good reason. [5]

    Potential benefits being studied [5]

    • Support for collagen and elastin production
    • Improved look of skin firmness, texture, and fine lines
    • Support for skin repair and wound healing
    • A possible role in hair and scalp health

    Tesamorelin [1]

Tesamorelin is a growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) analog. Instead of adding growth hormone directly, it signals your pituitary gland to release more of your own. [1]

It has the strongest research base of any peptide on this page. Tesamorelin is FDA-approved, under the brand name Egrifta, to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Any other use is off-label and requires a provider’s judgment. [1]

    Potential benefits [1]

    • Reduction of visceral (deep belly) fat, the indication it’s approved for
    • Possible support for body composition
    • Possible improvements in some metabolic markers in studied populations

How it may fit into a plan [1]

    • Prescribed for its approved indication
    • Discussed off-label as part of a medically supervised body composition plan, when a provider determines it’s appropriate

Who it may be a good fit for [1]

    • Adults with excess visceral fat who’ve been evaluated by a provider
    • Patients who want a GH-axis option with clinical trial data behind it

Who should talk to us first or skip it [3]

    • Anyone with an active cancer
    • Pregnant women
    • People with pituitary disorders or a history of pituitary surgery or radiation
    • People with diabetes or blood sugar issues (needs monitoring)
    • Competitive athletes subject to drug testing (tesamorelin is on the WADA prohibited list) [3]

    Sermorelin [2]

Sermorelin is a GHRH analog made of the first 29 amino acids of your body’s natural growth hormone releasing hormone. It nudges your pituitary to produce and release growth hormone on its own rhythm. [2]

Because it works through your body’s own feedback system instead of adding growth hormone directly, it’s one option providers consider when patients want to support the growth hormone axis as natural levels decline with age. Sermorelin was once FDA-approved (as Geref) for growth hormone issues in children; the brand was discontinued and its approval withdrawn in 2009, and the FDA later determined that wasn’t for safety or effectiveness reasons. [2]

    Potential benefits being studied [2]

    • May support your body’s own growth hormone release
    • Possible support for sleep quality
    • Possible support for lean muscle, recovery, and body composition
    • Possible support for energy (evidence in healthy adults is limited)

How it may fit into a plan [2]

    • Part of an age management or wellness plan
    • Support for sleep and recovery
    • Paired with nutrition and training for body composition goals

Who it may be a good fit for [2]

    • Adults noticing age-related changes in sleep, recovery, or body composition
    • People who want GH-axis support without direct growth hormone

Who should talk to us first or skip it [3]

    • Anyone with an active cancer
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
    • People with untreated thyroid issues or pituitary conditions
    • Competitive athletes subject to drug testing (sermorelin is on the WADA prohibited list) [3]

    MOTS-c [6]

MOTS-c is a peptide encoded in your mitochondria, the energy centers of your cells. It’s part of a newer class of compounds called mitochondrial-derived peptides. [6]

Early research, mostly in animals and lab models, has looked at MOTS-c’s role in how the body uses glucose, handles metabolic stress, and responds to exercise. Human data is still early. [6]

    Potential benefits being studied [6]

    • Support for metabolic health and insulin sensitivity
    • Support for exercise capacity and energy
    • A possible role in healthy aging at the cellular level

How it may fit into a plan [6]

    • Discussed as part of a metabolic or weight management plan
    • Support alongside training and nutrition changes

Who it may be a good fit for [6]

    • Adults focused on metabolic health who are already working on diet, sleep, and activity
    • People interested in emerging research options under medical supervision

Who should talk to us first or skip it [6]

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
    • People on diabetes medication (blood sugar effects need monitoring)
    • Competitive athletes subject to drug testing (check your sport’s current rules before starting)

    Epitalon [7]

Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide modeled on a compound produced by the pineal gland, the small gland that helps regulate sleep through melatonin. [7]

It’s been studied, mostly in lab, animal, and small international studies, for its effect on telomerase activity and melatonin patterns. It’s popular in the longevity space, but the research is early and we treat it that way. [7]

    Potential benefits being studied [7]

    • Support for healthy sleep-wake cycles
    • A possible role in cellular aging (telomere research)
    • Possible support for overall wellness as part of a longevity plan

How it may fit into a plan [7]

    • Discussed as part of a longevity or age management plan
    • Sleep support alongside sleep hygiene changes

Who it may be a good fit for [7]

    • Adults interested in longevity-focused care who understand the research is early
    • People working on sleep quality with a provider

Who should talk to us first or skip it [7]

    • Anyone with an active cancer or a history of cancer
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women

    Selank [8]

Selank is a synthetic peptide based on tuftsin, a peptide naturally found in the immune system. It was developed and studied primarily in Russia. [8]

It’s been studied for its effect on stress response and calm focus, with research suggesting it may work without the sedation associated with some anti-anxiety medications. Most of that research comes from outside the U.S. and hasn’t been replicated in large Western trials. [8]

    Potential benefits being studied [8]

    • Support for a calmer response to everyday stress
    • Possible support for focus and mental clarity
    • Possible support for mood balance

    • People looking for focus support under medical supervision

Who should talk to us first or skip it [8]

    • Anyone with a diagnosed anxiety disorder, depression, or other mental health condition (talk to your treating provider; this isn’t a replacement for mental health care)
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
    • People on psychiatric medications

    Semax [9]

Semax is a synthetic peptide derived from a fragment of ACTH, a hormone your body makes. Like Selank, it was developed and is used medically in Russia. [9]

Research there has looked at Semax for cognitive function and brain health, including its possible effect on BDNF, a protein involved in learning and memory. Large Western trials haven’t been done, so we’re upfront that the evidence is limited. [9]

    Potential benefits being studied [9]

    • Support for focus, attention, and mental performance
    • A possible role in memory and learning
    • Possible support for mental energy

How it may fit into a plan [9]

Who should talk to us first or skip it [9]

    • Anyone with a seizure disorder or a history of seizures
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
